After a discussion with Mr. Hopkins at Lyons Farm Elementary school in the summer of 2025, we launched a curriculum in support of students engaged with the Learning Lab.

We teach students how to sew by hand and by machine. Our instructors are experienced sewers, enjoy working with students, and have experience teaching sewing.

We provide a nurturing and supportive environment for students to develop STEAM skills, practice life skills, and experience personal growth.

Sewing requires students to practice math, measurement and engineering skills while also providing them an environment in which they can be creative.

Students will have the opportunity to practice the skills that will help them throughout their lives, including: creative thinking, problem solving, decision making,
resilience, and self-awareness.

A key part of our program is building community. The students build community with each other and the teachers. They also experience a wider sense of community by making items to donate to their local community.
